The Public Works Department is still trying to find out the cause of the major landslide on the Savusavu/Labasa Highway last Friday.
Road Supervisor Seaqaqa, Matei Matakai believes that the rain water could not find its way down to the creek which may have caused the landslide.
He said they are also inspecting other parts of the highway near the landslide and safety measures are being put in place to ensure that similar incidents do not occur.
The bypass road built near the landslide which is the only accessible road link to Labasa from Savusavu and Nabouwalu is currently open to all traffic.
