Power blackouts, lack of specialized equipment and ordering pipes from abroad has prolonged the Public Works Department timeline of getting steady water supply to those areas affected by the floods last month in the west.

Ministry spokeswoman Sainiana Waqainabete said in Ba, a specialized pipe had to be brought in from abroad.

This has seen residents in Koronubu and Rarawai without water for over a month which has seen water tanks set up with 4 water trucks sent out on a daily basis.

When asked when people living in Ba would be able to get their water back to normal, Waqainabete said the deadline they have set for them elves is early next week.

In the Nausori to Suva areas, they have had to replace a whole pipeline network which sees intermittent water supply to nearby areas with residents in Tuirara and Cunnigham and high areas affected.
