PWD Constructs Bypass
Road Supervisor Seaqaqa, Matei Matakai told Village News from the site, that light vehicles can cross the temporary road however they are assisting people with heavy vehicles to cross the road. He added that heavy rainfall is hindering their construction work.
Meanwhile, Surya Narayan an Advisory Councilor from Qalewaqa has raised concern that school children will be the worst affected from next week if the road is not completed by Tuesday. He said people traveling to Labasa in ferries via Savusavu or Nabouwalu, had to face a lot of difficulties as they had to get off their buses and walk through the bush beside the landslide with their belongings and board their buses on the other side of the road.
Meanwhile, a number of roads in the northern division are still closed following the flash flooding earlier this week.

In Savusavu, Wailevu West Coast road, Dakuniba road, Nakobo road are also closed. The roads closed due to landslides include Nabouwalu Road and Kubulau Peninsula which has landslides at various places.
PWD workers are currently trying to clear up the roads.
