The Fijian Teachers Association said the Public Service Commission had taken the most unfair move in the history of Fiji by awarding wage increments to government Permanent Secretaries only when other civil servants are facing pay cuts.
General Secretary Maika Namudu said they have no knowledge of the contents of the contracts held by the Permanent Secretaries and their members have been victimized.
The Public Service Commission had defended its decision to grant a pay increment to the Government Permanent Secretaries in December last year.
After confirmation that the Permanent Secretaries did receive a pay increment, PSC Chairman Rishi Ram said this is because the Permanent Secretaries are the only civil servants whose contracts are based on Merit and Performance.
