The Public Service Commission and the Public Sector Unions are once again at loggerheads over COLA payments as we approach the festive season.
The Public Service Commission has made it clear that they still maintain the no COLA policy and this will not change.
Permanent Secretary for Public Service, Taina Tagicakibau said the Union's should understand that all future pay increments FOR CIVIL SERVANTS will be based on a merit basis.
Meanwhile, the Confederation of Public Sector Unions member and the General Secretary of the Fiji Teachers Union, Agni Deo Singh has called on the PSC to understand the difference between COLA and merit payments.
Singh said they have no other option but to take the matter to arbitration.
