We need to have a civil service with appropriate technology the right size and which is result oriented said Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.

Yesterday Commodore Bainimarama officially opened the Civil Service Week where various government departments and ministries showcased their services and products through booths and providing information.

Bainimarama said he has recognized that there have been positive changes in the civil services compared to what existed a few years ago.

Such improvements are recognized through the Civil Service Excellence Awards.

Meanwhile he said there are a number of reforms taking place through Government's reform agenda to create a modern, efficient just, responsive and transparent system, civil services and economy.

The theme for this year "Striving for Excellence through Changes and Reforms" is in line with Government's efforts in transforming the civil service.
