The Public Service Commission will be meeting again with Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama to hear of his views and recommendations after the Voluntary Redundancy Plan was put on hold earlier in the week.

Chairman Josefa Serulagilagi said the redundancy plan still stands whereby they are targeting more than two thousand civil servants, and they will wait for the Prime Minister's return from New York to hear his recommendations, before taking their next step.

Serulagilagi had earlier confirmed this week that government has advised the PSC to hold off on the plan since there are no funds to carry out the exercise.

The PSC said an ideal number for the number of civil servants would be 21,000 compared to the current number of 42,000 people on the government payroll.
