The Public Service Commission has terminated six civil servants who were involved in a racket to defraud the government off $124,000.

PSC Chairman Rishi Ram has confirmed that the six who were employed at the Government Supplies Department were purportedly colluding with each other and with certain supplies by making fictitious entries in stores receipt vouchers and other documents to effect payment in 2004.

Ram stresses that due to the seriousness of the allegations, the matter is now being investigated by the Police for the six to face criminal charges.

The PSC stresses that it views such acts to defraud the government seriously and has adapted a strong stand on the matter and other related offences which will only result in termination.
