PSC discusses cost cutting implementation
The PSC Chairman Mohammed Yunus said many measures will be implemented such as seeing how much a government vehicle is used, how to cut down on utility usage and not to fill some positions left vacant after a civil servants retirement, migration or death.
Speaking on a talkback show on Sister Station, Radio Sargam, Yunus stressed that sending some public servants home will be the last resort and if it comes to that, then negotiations will be held with unions first.
Meanwhile, in a circular issued yesterday by PSC, it has been clarified that in the effort to control and to streamline operational costs, all delegated powers have been withdrawn and PSC will from now resume authority on relevant staff matters, including new appointments and the processing of vacancies.
The circular reads that all processes will continue as normal however the final decision will be made by PSC.
These steps have been take to see that state funds are used wisely.
