The Public Service Commission has approved the creation of a new department to facilitate the implementation work for the Roadmap and the Strategic Framework for Change.

PSC Chairman, Josefa Seruilagilagi said the new department has been tasked to ensure a better and well coordinated approach to the implementation of the Roadmap.

He reiterates that the department is expected to facilitate consensus building through nationwide reconciliation and dialogue. The unit will also monitor and assess the implementation of all the objectives of the roadmap by various government ministries and agencies.

The new department will be headed by a Deputy Secretary and will operate from the former Parliament complex and will report directly to the Prime Minister's Office.

The new entity does not incur any additional cost to government, as it was created after the phasing out of three units from the Ministry of National Planning, namely the Good Governance Unit, the National People's Charter and Public Relations Media Team.
