PSC Chair denies civil service is militarised
While Speaking on a talkback show on Sister Station, Radio Sargam, Mohammed Yunus said there are some strategic places where the government wants to keep people who are able to do the job efficiently.
He said they have observed that some civil servants do not finish the work given to them as expected and the government is accused of not finishing projects on time by the public which is why after much consideration, some positions are given to the military officers who, the government knows will be able to do their job as expected.
However, Yunus said he does not believe that there are too many military officers holding positions in the interim government.
The Permanent Secretary for the Prime Minister's Office is Commander Viliame Naupoto, Major Neumi Leweni is the Acting Permanent Secretary for Information, the Police Commissioner is Commodore Esala Teleni, Interim Minister for Works, Timoci Natuva, Commissioner Prisons Brigadier General Iowane Naivalurua, the Commissioner Central is Lieutenant Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga while Lieutenant Colonel Inia Seruiratu is Commissioner Northern amongst others.
