The Public Service Commission (PSC) chairperson disagrees with the Soqosoqo Duavata Ni Lewenivanua’s (SDL) resolution that the public service has been militarized.
Rishi Ram said those officers in the public service have been awarded the posts on merit.
Ram added some of the officers are in acting positions and the opportunity will arise for them to reapply for the posts.
The SDL at their AGM last Friday, stated their concern at the growing militarization of the public service as they believe that this is not only counterproductive, it also runs contrary to the ethos of working under a civil and elected authority which is crucial in a democracy.
The party also urged that we adhere to the rules of employing people on merit, based on qualifications and relevant experience.
