The Public Service Commission has approved the recruitment of 45 qualified engineers from overseas to be employed at the Department of Water and National Roads.
This has been confirmed by the Permanent Secretary for Works Anand Kumar who said their submission last year to the PSC highlighted the need to get additional qualified engineers to ensure the Ministry delivers better and improved services to the people of Fiji.
Kumar said they are looking at various countries to recruit the engineers from.
Principal Water Engineer Taito Delana had highlighted that there are only 6 qualified engineers currently employed for the whole of the country.
The recruitment team will be leaving the country at the end of the month.
