The Fiji Barbarians are using the Pacific Rugby Cup as a build-up to the Under 20 Rugby World Cup in Japan next month.

Team manager Dan Domoni said after getting the green light from the Fiji Rugby Union, the young team consisting of mostly U20 reps and a lone U19 player has been using the game as an eye-opener.

After the 47-8 loss to the Fiji Warriors in the opening round of the PRC, Domoni said the boys have learnt a lot to be able to leave a statement at the Under 20 RWC with Fiji's opening game against South Africa on the 5th of June.

Vima Tuidraki and Alusio Buto are two faces the Barbarians will be counting on for this weekend's encounter against Upolu Samoa.

Looking at the history of the game, Fiji has not lifted the prestigious IRB sanctioned PRC title and with both Fiji teams losing over the weekend to Tonga and Samoa, the aim to win the title this year seems tough.

This weekend, the Fiji Warriors will host Savaii Samoa on Saturday at Churchill Park, a live commentary can be heard on our sister station Viti FM while the Barbarians face Upolu Samoa on Friday in Apia.
