Papua New Guinea's loss could be Fiji's gain.

Athletics Fiji Coach Albert Miller said Team Fiji athletes could return from the Pacific Mini Games with a number of gold medals.

Miller said their major threat in this year's athletics competition was Papua New Guinea who will not be sending their athletes to the Cook Islands.

He said the other countries may not be able to pose threats to Fiji athletes.
