The Public Service Commission said they will implement the Performance Management System (PMS) in place of the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA), at any cost.
Chairman Rishi Ram has been questioned by Fijivillage whether the implementation of the PMS will cost more than paying COLA to civil servants as revealed by the Fiji Islands Council of Trade Unions (FICTU).
Ram maintained that the issue is not only about cost.
Meanwhile, FICTU General Secretary Attar Singh said the PSC chairman does not know what he is doing.
Negotiations are underway between the PSC and unions on scrapping COLA, however, most of the unions told Fijivillage that they are against the idea.
