Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama has travelled from New York to Sinai to visit the Fiji troops there.

He was honored with a 50 man guard formed by Fiji solders serving in the Fiji Infantry Regiment of the Multinational Forces and Observers MFO in the Sinai desert.

The troops also accorded Commodore Bainimarama with a traditional ceremony of welcome.

The Prime Minister is currently visiting the 2nd battalion of the Fiji Infantry regiment which has been deployed with MFO since 1982.

The Multinational Forces and Observers mission is funded by the US government.
