Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama has today stressed to the 130 Methodist Church ministers that the Methodist Church of Fiji will not be allowed to have their Annual Conference until 2014.
Permanent Secretary for Information, Lt. Colonel Neumi Leweni also confirmed that the Church will not be allowed to hold their monthly circuit meetings.
Lt Colonel Leweni said in a meeting at the Methodist Church office this morning, Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama stressed to the 130 church ministers that the one-day meeting they are currently having is the place for them to discuss issues about the church and their members.
Leweni added in the meeting today, Bainimarama conveyed to the church elders the stance of the government and what they expect them to do.
Lt Colonel Leweni confirmed that questions were raised by the church on how they can work together with the government to benefit the members.
Commodore Bainimarama was accompanied by Police Commissioner, Commodore Esala Teleni, Navy Commander Francis Kean, Lt Colonel Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara, Lt Colonel Sitiveni Qiliho and Lt Colonel Neumi Leweni to the meeting which ended earlier this afternoon.
