PM to resign as Army Commander on Feb 28th
Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama announced his resignation at the Commander’s first parade at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks today.
He said the duty of the military must remain firm when the head of the military changes.
The Army Commander stressed to the soldiers to give all their best and uphold honesty in the RFMF.
He told them that they must continue to work with all the races that are living in Fiji.
Commodore Bainimarama said that they must not forget some who started with them, and were part of the changes that the military initiated in 2006.
He reminded the soldiers that the military was used by some politicians who brought their dirty tactics and confused the soldiers who then took part in the mutiny which led to bloodshed.
Commodore Bainimarama reiterated that he does not want to see that happen again at QEB.
He also challenged more than 300 senior officers and soldiers present at the parade that this year is a challenging year for Fiji and the military.
He said we must work together and support each other as the people of Fiji will rely on the military for public safety.
He reminded the soldiers that the Government is paying for the school fees for the children as the new school year begins tomorrow.
However, Commodore Bainimarama stressed that parents must also carry out their duties at home and also teach good values to the children.
