Five new Government Telecentres will be opened in Vanua Levu by the Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama starting from today.
Already, ten Telecentres are operating in various parts of the country, providing ordinary Fijians with access to the Internet and a range of other telecommunications services.
The number of people using the Telecentres has climbed to more than 31,000 according to the latest figures and that number is set to escalate with the five new centres in the North.
The first will be opened by the Prime Minister tomorrow afternoon at the Seaqaqa Secondary School in the sugar belt outside Labasa.
Tomorrow, others will be launched at the Nadogo Secondary School another rural area and the Shri Guru Nanak Khalsa College in Labasa town.
On Wednesday, the PM will open Telecentres at the Labasa Muslim College and the Savusavu Secondary School, in Vanua Levu's second main town.
The Prime Minister's party is also carrying thousands of copies of the new 2013 Constitution which came into effect yesterday to distribute during his visit in the three main languages B English, i-Taukei and Hindi.
Meanwhile the PM will also be accompanied by the Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum
