The Prime Minister will contribute and make an address to during the United Nations General Assembly in New York which kicks off from tomorrow.

Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama is expected to take the stand at the green marble podium in the General Assembly Hall to update the assembly on the situation in Fiji.

The main issues of the 64th Session of the UN General Assembly include millennium development goals, world economic crisis and its impact on development, climate change, disarmament, UN reform, review of the peace-building commission and the Human Rights Council.

As Minister for Finance Commodore Bainimarama is also expected to attend the 2009 Annual Meetings of the Istanbul Boards of Governors/World Bank Group/International Monetary Fund from the 6th to the 7th of October in Turkey.

Thousands of world economic leaders and businesspeople will be in Istanbul to attend the IMF World Bank Summit.
