People in the rural areas can expect better services and lower rates by the Land Transport Authority in the future.

This follows the call by the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama in a meeting with Lands Transport Authority officials where he stressed that they must become customer friendly.

You must work towards being a customer oriented service provider and try to be considerate to those living in the rural areas.

This was the strong message issued by Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama to the Board of the Land Transport Authority and officials from the Transport Ministry during a meeting on Wednesday calling on the LTA board to relook at the running of it's operations.

Commodore Bainimarama had earlier called on the LTA to change its mindset as it was not a money making machine, after members of the public in the Northern Division raised concerns about LTA's excessive charges and the issue of double booking.

Ministry of Transport Spokesperson Iliesa Sokia confirmed to fijivillage that the Prime Minister during the meeting told the LTA board to also take into account the hardships faced by those in the rural areas.
