Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama has raised serious concern about recent comments made by Australian government officials, which he said are inciteful.
Commodore Bainimarama also calls on the Australian government to refrain from interfering with Fiji's internal affairs.
The call comes in the wake of a reported comment made by unnamed Australian Foreign Affairs official who made the statements in the News Limited owned newspaper, The Australian.
The Australian Foreign Affairs official was quoted as saying and I quote "the people may have no choice but to stand up to Bainimarama and his thugs" end quote.
Commodore Bainimarama said the statement is inciting the people of Fiji to rise against the government and promoting further unrest.
He said calling his Government Ministers "thugs", is derogatory and mischievous, and portrays the condescending attitude of the Australian Government.
The Prime Minister said on one hand the Australian Government said it is concerned about the welfare of the people of Fiji whilst on the other they are inciting and promoting unrest in Fiji.
Foreign Affairs Minister, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola has also made a statement in response to articles on Fiji being repeatedly published in Australia by the News Ltd owned newspapers which owns the Fiji Times, with one of the articles titled "Perfect one day, brutal the next" with a map of Fiji's premier tourism sites.
Ratu Inoke said there is an Australian High Commission in Fiji and he believes they continuously report on Fiji's situation back to Australia.
He said he does not understand why the High Commission has allowed this to happen.
Fijivillage approached Acting Australian High Commissioner to Fiji, Sarah Roberts on the issue.
She has refused to make any comments at this stage.
