Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama is pleased that the Melanesian Spearhead Group made up of the prime ministers of Papua New Guinea, the Solomons Islands and Vanuatu have accepted government's presentation on the roadmap to democracy.
Speaking to Fijivillage from Vanuatu last night after the special MSG summit, Commodore Bainimarama said the meeting was timely as the summit was held just a few weeks before the Pacific Islands Leaders Forum in Australia.
Meanwhile, Bainimarama said he found out in Vanuatu that the plan to have the meeting with him emerged in the PALM summit which was held in Japan.
Commodore Bainimarama's presentation was based on the national address last week where he announced that the government will concentrate on the economy for the next three years.
He revealed that work on a new constitution which will see a non-race based electoral system, start in 2012.
Work on the new constitution is expected to be completed by September 2013 and elections is scheduled to be held in September 2014.
