Education will cease to be the privilege of a few and will be accessible to all students.

Those were the words of Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama who opened the multimillion dollar Fiji National University's Nadi campus this morning.

Commodore Bainimarama said the opening of the Namaka campus is also a manifestation of the overall objective of their government to create accessibility to education and vocational training.

Commodore Bainimarama also said the $40 million campus project is unique because there has been no foreign monetary assistance and the project has been completely funded by the Fijian people.

He also said the campus will immediately provide specialized courses in hospitality and aviation and that it is only logical that such courses are made available in Nadi as the International Airport and the bulk of the hotels are located in Nadi.

FNU Dean Dr. Ganesh Chand said the campus is a result of 20 years of work and will cater for over 5000 students each semester.

The new campus will have the College of Commerce, Hospitality and Tourism Studies and College of Engineering, Science and Technology and the range courses will cover tourism and hospitality studies, aviation, and business.
