The government has welcomed the assistance of the international community in the transfer of knowledge and strengthening of national statistical capacity.
Prime Minister and Minister for Strategic Planning, National Development and Statistics, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama officially opened the country's celebrations on the first ever World Statistics Day this morning in Suva.
Commodore Bainimarama said today is a day to celebrate official statistics and to highlight the importance of the need to have accurate data as it is vital for the nations economic and social development.
He said the exchange and strengthening of accurate data remains a priority for the government.
Various Government ministries participated in a march in Suva this morning to mark the day.
