The Prime Minister and Army Commander Commodore Frank Bainimarama has the last say on whether an army personnel goes home or stays in the military.
Speaking to Fijivillage, military spokesperson Major Neumi Leweni said in the case of people retiring at the age of 55 on Thursday next week, he stressed that the Commodore has the final say.
Leweni also stated that the military is not part of the Public Service Commission.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that a little over 300 from the Health Ministry including 15 doctors and 97 nurses, over 300 civil servants from the Works, Public Utilities and Energy Ministry and a little over 800 teachers will retire next Thursday, the 30th of April.
