Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama is expected to attend a high-level International Monetary Fund meeting in Korea next Monday and Tuesday.
The conference which is hosted by the IMF and the Government of the Republic of Korea will examine Asia's economic performance and evolving role in international policy making.
At the same time, the conference pursues the theme of Asia 21 Leading the Way Forward, which is exemplified in Asia's rapid recovery from the global economic crisis.
Meanwhile last week Commodore Bainimarama confirmed that the government has been in discussions with the IMF on a possible IMF supported programme for a standby arrangement.
It was earlier highlighted that the government was looking at a substantial loan from IMF to support its planned reforms.
Talks are still underway.
