Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama has congratulated Australia's new and first female Prime Minister, Julia Gillard.
In a statement Commodore Bainimarama said he is looking forward to working with Julia Gillard and hopes that the new Prime Minister would re-look at the Australian government’s current policy towards Fiji.
Commodore Bainimarama said links between Fiji and Australia in particular in trade, investment, tourism, sports and strong people-to-people links through the emigration of Fijians to Australia are pervasive, strong and cannot be ignored.
