The Prices and Incomes Board will issue a 14 days Intention Notice in the dailies this Friday in which it will propose to reduce the imports, wholesale and the retail percentage mark-ups of all items under percentage price control.

PIB said the step has been taken after the Interim Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry raised concern over increasing prices of some food items.

The measure now taken by PIB will see a reduction in wholesale and retail prices of basic consumer items such as baby milk, milk powder, liquid milk, frozen chicken, canned fish, salt, sugar, dhal, edible oil, garlic and many other items. According to PIB stakeholders and businesses can respond to the Intention Notice within the 14 days from its publication.
