The Prices and Incomes Board continues to receive complaints from residential tenants that their rents are being increased, although a rental freeze is still in place.
PIB Secretary Ane Naulivou said they receive complaints on a daily basis and is again reminding landlords that unauthorized rental increases will be taken to court.
Naulivou added that under the Counter Inflation Act, as well as the illegal increase in rents, landlords who do not keep records of tenancy agreements and records of receipts will also be taken to task.
Rental freeze on all residential properties under rent have been extended to the 31st of December, which means a landlord cannot increase the rental that was charged for that property.
On the other hand, the freeze on commercial rental was lifted effective at the beginning of last month.
