The Consumer Council of Fiji has welcomed the Price and Incomes Board's (PIB) intention to reduce the retail percentage mark-ups of kerosene and pre-mixed outboard fuel from the existing 10 percent to 7 percent.
However, the Manager Campaign Information and Media, Pranita Singh said there is a need to monitor the mark-up percentage after it is reduced to see that consumers benefit from the reduction.
The PIB yesterday announced its intention to reduce the retail percentage mark-ups of Kerosene and Pre-mixed outboard fuel but before this is done, a 14 day notice is given from the 11th of July for stakeholders to give their opinions on reduction.
PIB Secretary, Ane Naulivou said the intention of the PIB to reduce the retail percentage mark-ups is to help reduce the effect of rising world fuel prices.
