The Public Employees Union (PEU) have similar concerns to those that were raised during the Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua (SDL) AGM last week, where there seems to be a growing militarization of the Public Service Commission (PSC).
General Secretary for PEU Pita Delana said most of their grievances are not met by PSC because they have no power.
Delana added the militarization of PSC will only be solved if Fiji goes back to the polls.
SDL has stated their concern at the growing militarization of the Public Service as they believe that this is not only counterproductive, it also runs contrary to the ethos of working under a civil and elected authority which is crucial in a democracy. The SDL party urged that we adhere to the rules of employing people on merit, based on qualifications and relevant experience.
