The military will not impose the Emergency Regulation after six people were charged with Treason, Inciting Mutiny, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, misprision of Treason and instigating Invasion.

When Village News posed the question to Army Spokesman Lt Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga, whether they will re-impose the Emergency Regulation because it was a serious allegation against the state. Tikoitoga replied that they would not invoke the regulation because the people involved in the alleged crime have been arrested and charged and will appear in court.

The previous regulation was imposed after Ousted Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase and SDL National Director, Peceli Kinivuwai spoke out against the interim regime.
