The Public Emergency Regulation is a normal practice for the safety of the public and not just because of Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase's presence in Suva.
These are the words of Commissioner of Police, Commodore Esala Teleni who in reply to questions raised as to whether deposed Qarase is seen as a threat to national security, Commodore Teleni said that the Regulation was not put in place just because of only one person but out of concern for the public
Teleni also said that the public does not need to be too concerned about the regulation unless they are involved in illegal activities.
