The Public Emergency Regulation has been extended for another 30 days from May 28th.

President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau has signed a gazette which confirmed the extension.

The PER has been in place in Fiji since April last year.

It will be reviewed again next month.

However the Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama had earlier stated that the PER will only be lifted when the new Media Decree is in place.
