The Public Centre for Public Integrity still maintains that members of a tribunal that are to look into Fiji's judiciary must be totally independent and should be people who have had no previous dealings with the Judiciary in Fiji.
PCPI Director, Angie Heffernan adds that these precautionary measures are mainly to ensure the integrity of the tribunal.
This comes after Judge Justice John Connors was appointed to conduct a Commission of Inquiry into the appointments and administration of the Magistrate Courts. Justice Connors has served at the Lautoka and Suva High Courts for a number of years.
