The Pacific Centre for Public Integrity said they are concerned about the reinstatement of the Public Emergency Regulation.
Executive Director, Angie Heffernan said there really is no valid reason for the regulation to be re-invoked.
Commodore Frank Bainimarama has confirmed that the regulation has been invoked following the recent public statements of Ousted Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase and SDL National Director, Peceli Kinivuwai who claimed that they have received threats from the military.
Bainimarama said both Qarase and Kinivuwai cannot prove that the military made any threatening calls and he said the SDL executives are stage-managing media to seek public sympathy.
