The Pacific Centre for Public Integrity has raised concerns stating that the Independence of Fiji's Judiciary must be dealt with immediately.

PCPI Executive Director, Angie Heffernan, said the Judiciary is no longer functioning on its own based on various reports and discussions and adds that the President should immediately convene a Tribunal to look into the independence of the Judiciary.

This comes after six Court of Appeal Judges Justices Thomas Eichelbaum, Ian Barker, Tony Ford, Bruce McPherson, Peter Penlington and Robert Philip Smellie had resigned.

It was reported that the expatriate judges resigned due to concerns about how Acting Chief Justice Anthony Gates was handling administrative matters.
