The Health Ministry along with the Poisons and Pharmacy Board will now be actively scrutinizing the ownership of pharmacies right around the country.
This revelation was made by the Health Minister after a survey by the Ministry and the Consumer Council revealed that some pharmacies were issuing receipts that had the name of another company on it.
Doctor Neil Sharma said that owning more than two pharmacies is against the law and anyone found in breach of the law will face strict penalties.
Meanwhile, Attorney General and Trade Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said a new pricing order will come out next week after the survey found that 60 percent of the pharmacies in the country were selling their medicine at a higher price.
