Rugby referee Nigel Owens is among the Welsh people who have been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

The 44‑year‑old became the most experienced international referee of all time after taking charge of a record 71st test match between Fiji and Tonga.

Owens says he was very humbled and honoured and it was a real privilege.

Referee Nigel Owens gives Tonga an advantage in yesterday's PNC encounter.

He made his Rugby World Cup debut in France in 2007 and took charge of the 2015 Rugby World Cup final.

The Vodafone Flying Fijians beat Tonga 23‑18 while Samoa were held 19‑19 by Georgia in Apia.
