The incentives offered by Government has seen three overseas based production companies expressing interest to come and shoot films in the country.
Fiji Audio Visual Commission Acting Chief Executive, Florence Swamy revealed that these production companies from India had shown interest last year of filming in the country.
Part of the Film Tax Rebate sees a production company eligible for a 35% tax rebate or cash subsidy when it lodges its income tax return at the end of the production and another deal with the exemption from certain taxes.
These production companies will be using locals as film extras.
Swamy said this will be a boost for the economy.
Meanwhile, the Fiji National University is organizing a film festival that will be held next week where famous Bollywood producer - Prakash Jha will be in the country for the Festival.
