Over confidence cost us the game-Wainiqolo
Those were the words of Digicel Fiji Sevens Coach Timoci Wainiqolo after Fiji was relegated to the bowl quarterfinal at the NZ 7s last night.
Speaking to Fijivillage News from Wellington Wainiqolo said the players committed basic mistakes and were too casual at times.
For the first time in the 14 year history of the IRB Sevens Series, Fiji failed to reach the Cup quarter final stage.
The Digicel Fiji Sevens team lost in their first pool game to Scotland 14-12 and then to Australia 21-12 in their second pool match and then finding their form in their last pool match beating Portugal 24-7.
Fiji will meet USA in the third bowl quarter final at 12.44 pm.
Looking at the games played last night - New Zealand managed to sneak into the cup quarterfinals after defeating USA 17-10, New Zealand had earlier lost to England 19-14.
South Africa beat Wales 21-0, Spain went down to England 28-5, Australia thrashed Scotland 29-5, Argentina edged France 17-14 and Samoa defeated Canada 26-12.
Meanwhile, in the cup quarterfinals today, England takes on Scotland at 1.33pm, followed by Samoa and Argentina, Australia and New Zealand while Kenya will meet South Africa.
