Over $80 million was spent alone on wages and salaries for the Ministry of Health staff last year.

It has been revealed in the 2011 and 2012 National Health Accounts Report which was launched by Health Minister Dr. Neil Sharma this morning at the Southern Cross Hotel.

Dr Sharma said human resources are the largest expenditure and accounted for more than 50 percent of the total Government Current Health Expenditure for the years 2011 and 2012.

Dr. Sharma said for better health service, additional staff will be joining the work force soon and this figure will surely increase.

The Health Minister said this is the fourth National Health Accounts Report.

Meanwhile in 2011, $72 million was spent as administrative costs.
