More than eight hundred jobs are expected to be created from the development of Fiji's first ever casino in Denarau.
The government issued the casino license to an American company One hundred sands Limited yesterday afternoon.
Chairperson Larry Claunch said the economic benefits to Fiji and the region will be significant.
Claunch said the company will start recruiting locals next year for training.
Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama announced that the selection was a result of rigorous assessments and selection process.
The construction of the Casino will cost $290M which is expected to be completed by September 2013.
