As the Land Transport Authority continues to receive more applications for taxi and mini bus permits, there is confirmation that in the past three years LTA has registered more than 600 taxis.
Spokesperson Doreen Narain said between June 2007 to last month 614 taxis has been registered.
Narayan said there are no limits for the issuance of taxi permits in a year however considerations are given to areas with genuine needs.
She added at the moment they have a list of places listed as priority areas for all three regions.
The Land Transport Authority is currently carrying out a joint operation with the Police to ensure people do not breach PSV permits and drivers who are found to be in breach of conduct for PSV Drivers are dealt with.
