Figures released by the National Fire Authority have revealed that more than sixty homes have been destroyed by fire this year.

The Media Unit has also revealed that a total of twenty Industrial and Commercial buildings caught fire this year.

National Fire Authority Board Chairman, John Low said fires have cost the nation almost $60 million to $100 million a year, in terms of loss of jobs, loss of properties and loss of revenue to businesses.

The Media Unit has also confirmed that majority of fires were caused by unattended cooking, diya's, candles left near curtains, children playing with matches and electrical faults.
