More than 500 homes have been completely destroyed as a result of the devastating winds brought by Hurricane Tomas.

This has been revealed in DISMAC’s latest situation report, which showed that 304 homes have been totally destroyed in the Eastern Division, with Koro Island in the Lomaiviti group recording the most with twenty two homes completely destroyed.

As for the Northern Division detailed damage assessment reports shows a total of 213 homes have been totally destroyed, the highest number of 66 homes which have been destroyed recorded in the Tunuloa district in Cakaudrove.

Figures of partly destroyed homes showed that in the Eastern Division 128 homes were partly damaged, whereas the Northern Division recorded a total of 1,022 homes.

As detail damage assessment continues for the affected divisions, the total estimated damage costs incurred in various sectors stands at $35.8 million.
