More than 3,400 drivers have been either booked, had their vehicle de-registered, impounded, given defect orders or had their license cancelled by the Land Transport Authority during its joint operation with police still underway.

LTA’s Media Liaison Officer Doreen Narayan said 311 vehicles have been impounded so far and 2,759 drivers have been booked for various traffic offences.

She said four drivers have so far had their licenses cancelled while 39 had their licenses suspended since the Traffic Operation started on 9th March.

She said LTA has so far de-registered 19 vehicles while 664 vehicles were given defect orders.

According to Narayan LTA and police officers have given final warnings to 84 drivers and these drivers can lose their license if they are booked again for traffic offences.

She said private vehicles with a history of illegal operation are being de-registered and driver license is suspended for continuous involvement in illegal operations.
