The European Union has given over $2million for the rehabilitation of the schools that were affected by the recent floods.

The Interim Education Minister Filipe Bole who received the cheque from the Head of the European Commission Delegation for the Pacific said the money will be used to replace water tanks, furniture, textbooks, beddings, cooking utensils and other school equipment damaged by flood waters.

Bole said the fund will also be used for infrastructural rehabilitation and contribute to the funding of levies of students in flood affected areas.

Bole added that the fund will help speed up the maintenance work in schools, reduce costs and has come as a blessing for many parents.
